Audience Research!

This are examples of the feedback we got back, from our audience research.  These is what we are thinking in response to what has been said.

The story will be seen from Kylie’s point of view.  The trailer will show two twists, about her mental illness and about her trying to kill Daniel, but whether he dies will be kept as an enigma, so the audience will want to see the film again. The split personality is the main theme and structure of our trailer, because as Kylie’s illness develops, the events in the trailer will become more corrupt.
We are planning to show how Kylie spits out her tablets and becomes more aggressive  The clips will also include her smashing the door and cutting a photo of her and Daniel. We are using the college for filming, we are doing that half-term so there are no disturbing. The reason we chose college as our location is because it is very casual, which means the audience will be able to relate to it, especially the students.
We didn't want to make a remake of the Roommate, but realizing that our way is somehow similar we decided to make it more individual. This will be done by having a guy and a girl as best friends, because in films this is unconventional, as the audience are used to seeing two girls or two guys as best friends. Also we are going to make Kylie’s illness stand out and it will be a big concentration of the film, as it will create a big contrast in the events.
We agree that the split personality and dilemma will be interesting to both film and see, as in our story line those two factors relate. However we can not reveal the final outcome, as we do not want our trailer to be a spoiler. We are however going to show a lot of very intense moment, to interest the audience and thrill them for the film.
We are not rushing to show her split personality, her illness is revealed in the second part of the trailer. The first part concentrates on the characters’ friendship and things starting to go wrong, while the second part shows that she has a mental illness and that part concentrates on it progressing so much that she decides to kill Daniel. The attack will not be shown half way through the trailer, because this is our main enigma for it. We want to trick the audience into thinking that this will be the ending of the film and assuming that Kylie will kill Daniel, although we are not showing  it. The real ending of the story line is not revealed at all.
